Tulsi also known as “Holy Indian Basil” is a caffeine – free herb that is considered to be one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda and is often grown in temples and in households in India.
In Ayurveda tulsi is used for treatments for asthma, bronchitis, cold, congestion, coughs, flu, sinusitis, sore throat, skin diseases and insect bites etc.
Scientific medical research has confirmed that tulsi is a powerful adoptgenic herb (an herb that reduces stress and increases energy). It is anti-inflammatory. Tulsi is also high in antioxidants.
One of the easy way to consume tulsi is to make it into an “herbal tea”.
TULSI TEA RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
Fresh Tulsi Leaves 1 cup
Water 3 cups
Jaggery 1/2 cup
Lime juice 1 tbsp
Procedure for preparing TULSI TEA :
1. In a vessel boil the water. Add to it tulsi leaves and jaggery and bring to boil, cover the vessel with a lid and reduce the flame to low and boil it for 20 minutes to get the maximum health benefits.
2. Strain the leaves. Add lime juice and mix well.
Serve hot the herbal tulsi tea which can be consumed upto 4 times a day.
