Coconut chutney is one of the popular dishes in South India. It is served with idli, dosa and vada. Coconut chutney is prepared in different variety in different parts of South India. Today I am posting one of the variety of preparing Coconut Chutney.
Fresh coconut (grated) ½ cup
Green chilies 4
Mustard seeds (rai) ¼ tsp
Cumin (jeera) ¼ tsp
Dry red chili 2
Curry leaves 1 strand
Salt to taste
Oil 3 tsp
Procedure for preparing Coconut Chutney:
- Grind coarsely coconut grated and green chilies with enough water in a blender
- Heat a pan/khadai with oil. Add mustard and jeera when it splutters. Put the flame on low add dry red chili and curry leaves. Add the ground paste, add ¼ cup water and add salt. Keep stirring occasionally till the chutney boils put off flame immediately. Transfer to the serving bowl.
Coconut Chutney is ready. Serve it with idli, dosa and vada.
