Amla or Indian gooseberry sherbet is a healthy and refreshing drink during summer. Amla is an excellent source of Vitamin C, iron, calcium and phosphorous. It protects from heat and sunstroke, soothes eyes, hair and skin. Amla controls gas and acidity. It also prevents cold and cough.
Amla sherbet can be preserved in refrigerator and can be had during hot summers. It is a nutritious drink and it also gives a cooling effect to the body.
Ingredients:
Amla / Indian gooseberry 500 gm
Ginger 1“ piece
Water 3 cups
Sugar 200 gm
Lime juice 4 tbsp
Black salt ½ tsp
Cumin seeds ½ tsp
Method:
- Pressures cook the amlas with water for 2 whistles. Put off the flame. Allow it to cool down.
- Deseed the boiled amlas.
- Wash and peel the ginger.
- Grind together amla pieces, sugar and ginger into a smooth paste.
- Transfer the contents into a bowl. Add lime juice, cumin seeds powder and black salt. Mix well.
- Refrigerate amla sherbet in clean bottles.
- While serving use 3 tbsp of amla sherbet in a glass and add chilled water and serve it.

- Adjust the quantity of sugar according to Ur preferences.
