Tomato Chutney is a delicious recipe prepared as side dish for idli and dosa.
Ingredients:
Onion 1
Tomatoes 4 – 5
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Oil 1 tsp
Water ½ cup
Salt to taste
For seasoning:
Oil 1 tsp
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Curry leaves 1 strand
For garnishing:
Coriander leaves few
Method:
- Chop the onion and tomatoes.
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onion and fry until transparent and then add red chilli powder and salt and sauté for ½ a minute. Add tomato pieces and cook till it turns soft. Cool it and grind into a smooth paste.
- In a pan heat 1tsp of oil, add mustards seeds and curry leaves when it splutters add the ground tomato paste with ½ cup of water and stir well. Cook till the tomato chutney starts bubbling, stir well and put off the flame. Transfer tomato chutney into serving bowl.
- Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve it with idli or dosa.
