Ribbon pakoda is an easy south Indian snack made during Diwali and its also a great tea time snack.
Ingredients :
3 cups Besan
1 cup Rice flour
2 tbsp Sesame seeds
3 tbsp Hot oil
2 tsb Red chilli powder
2 Green chillies
½ inch Ginger piece
4 Cloves of garlic
2 Strands of curry leaves
¼ tsp Hing (asafoetida)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying.
Method:
- Sieve besan and rice flour.
- Add red chilli powder, salt, hing, sesame seeds to the sieved mixture.
- Grind to a very fine paste of green chillies, curry leaves, ginger and garlic. Add the paste to mixture and also add hot oil to the mixture.
- Add water in small quantity and make soft stiff dough. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
- Take some of the dough in a muruku press using a long slit disc. Press directly in the oil in circular motion. Do not overlap. Fry on medium heat until golden brown.
- Drain in a tissue paper.
- Allow it to cool and then store in a air tight container.
